There is no reason for people to bulk buy foods, especially perishable foods.
Due to recent news about the COVID-19 virus, many people across the United States are buying household items and food in bulk, otherwise known as “panic buying.” This is largely in part due to many news outlets and misinformation is spreading fast about negative aspects of COVID-19 and not enough information is being put out on how to prevent it and protect yourself. With every day passing, the news only seems to get worse, making the rest of the country scared. Even though young adults and children over 5 years old aren’t as affected, the knowledge of practicing health hygiene and to protect themselves adds to the hysteria.
Buying in bulk of foods isn’t a great thing to do; especially perishable food. If people are buying in bulk, then there won’t be enough resources for those who don’t get to the store in time. If practicing health hygiene and social distancing is the best way to reduce the spread of COVID-19, why should we be bulking food? We forget that we aren’t the only ones in this society and forget to help those in need. Many more things are being taking away and from the public such as masks, toiletries, and common essentials to the point where it it just unethical. People buying in bulk would possibility help spread the virus fast due for other people not having enough resources to protect themselves.
