Why Japanese McDonalds is Superior

It’s common knowledge that convenience stores like 7/11 have better quality products and are overall better in Japan. However, it’s shocking to me that their McDonalds has gone under the radar for so long.

Japanese McDonalds have on item on their menu that makes every other countries’ McDonalds pale in comparison: their teriyaki burger. This meal is McDonalds basic hamburger with teriyaki sauce added on. It doesn’t sound like much, but trust me when I say it is part of my Top 10 Best Foods. It hits every checkmark for me. The teriyaki sauce isn’t too tangy or too sweet, in fact it’s perfect. The level of sweet compliments the burger patty extremely well. Plus, Japanese McDonalds has never skimped out on their sauces. Every teriyaki burger I’ve ordered always had too much sauce, which is just the way I like it. I’d rather have more sauce than I can handle instead of a small puddle under the bun. Eating a teriyaki burger is nostalgic for me as well, as its something I grew up on. Waiting in line or in drive-thru after a swim practice and devouring one within seconds is something I will always remember.

Of course, there are other reasons why McDonalds in Japan is superior. Many of their menu items are ones that you can only get there, such as their choco pie. If you’ve had the mango peach pie from Jollibee, the texture and crunch is exactly the same except its filled with chocolate instead of fruit jelly. Another thing that makes them great are their seasonal menu items are the cherry on top. Every spring, McDonalds releases cherry blossom themed foods such as pink hamburger buns and cherry blossom floats and smoothies. Occasionally, they’ll launch limited burgers such as a loco moco. Just recently, McDonalds released a ramune flavored shake for the summer. Japanese McDonalds is committed to keeping their customers on their feet and providing good food, which is something they haven’t failed at yet.
